March 13, 2007: Judges Announced
We're very pleased to announce our judges for the Venture2 Spring 2007 Inventor Search. This year's judges include:
Amer Akhtar - VP, ADP and President, MIT Enterprise Forum of South Florida
Amer is a proven entrepreneur who personally understands both innovation and venture capital from his own successful entrepreneurial ventures, and his role advising start-ups through the MIT Enterprise Forum of South Florida.
Mike Docherty - CEO, Venture2 Inc.
Mike is the founder and CEO of Venture2 and brings over 25 years of proven experience in consumer product innovation and business management.
Bob Robbins - Principal, Spectrum Associates
Bob is a prolific inventor and entrepreneur, with many patents and successful consumer products to his name, including the Conair Hair Bead Styling Kit and Conair Temporary Hair Coloring Kit.
March 12, 2007: Entrants Selected
We've been amazed by the amount of interest this event has created. With our announcement, the Venture2 website received more than 40,000 hits in a single day. While billed as a local event, we've still managed to receive applications from as far away as Europe and Asia.
We've reviewed the many applications and have now selected nine of them to present their ideas in person on March 15, to our panel of judges. Each presenter will get fifteen minutes to make their case for how their invention addresses our criteria of addressing unmet customer needs, providing a unique and differentiated solution for its market, and significant financial returns for its owners or investors.
